Teachers and staff maintain student records and prepare reports for children that qualify for individualized education plans according to state and district policies.
Teachers work with students on socially acceptable behaviors, behavior modifications and positive reinforcement plans. Also establishing and enforcing rules for behavior and policies and procedure to maintain appropriate behavior among students.
Special Education Teachers work with classroom teachers to prepare materials and offer support for students to learn at their pace while adhering to the state academic standards.
Teachers also work with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers and general education teachers to develop IEP's (individualized education Plans designed to promote students' physical, social and educational development.
