Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Members of the Lapel Elementary School 5th grade girls basketball team, Brooklyn Boles, Maizy Cress, Larissa Follmar, Tatum Harper, Karlie Janrdngs, Makenna Mamazza, Kadyn McNeely, Taylor Mroz, and Kalea Richwine led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the January 11, 2018 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Elementary School which provided the information on the board MOM bulletin board for February.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the health insurance claims for January 2018.
  • The Board approved the following requests to rent FLCS buses:
    • Madison Park Church of God Youth Group for a skating party on February 11th in Fishers and the Indiana Youth Convention on Sunday July 1st.
    • The Campus Activities Board at Anderson University for a ski trip to Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg on Saturday, February 24th.
  • The Board approved a new Employee 401(a) Retirement Plan with Foresters Financial.
  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:

  • The Board approved the following gifts and donations:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • $500.00 from DeVoe Chevrolet for Leader in Me
      • $1,550.00 for the Robotics Club as follows: Community Hospital Anderson,
      • $1,000.00; Deborah Wood Associates, Inc., $50.00; Salesforce, $500.00
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • $10.00 from the Frankton High School Class of 1949 to the Emma Copeland Reading Scholarship Fund in memory of Rose Busby
  • The Board approved Wednesday, March 21, 2018, 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. for the kindergarten and age 4 pre-school round-up for Frankton and Lapel Elementary Schools.
  • Frankton Elementary School is working to become an approved pre-kindergarten facility to be able to provide services to pre-kindergarten students who receive grants from the On My Way Pre-K program under a pilot program operated by the State. The Board approved pre-kindergarten policies for the Frankton Elementary School pre-kindergarten handbook.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • Jeannine Terhune, Lapel High School show choir director, to take the show choir to Chicago on March 15-17, 2018.
    • Chris Glover, Lapel Middle/High School band director, to take band members to Kings Island, Ohio on May 12, 2018.
  • The Board approved a Suicide Awareness and Prevention Policy.
  • The Board approved the following retirements:
    • Frankton Elementaiy School
      • Ron Buck - PE Teacher, at the end of the 2017-18 school year, 39 years of service to Frankton-Lapel Community Schools
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Cathy Boone - Grade 5 Teacher, at the end of the 2017-18 school year, 38 years of service to Frankton-Lapel Community Schools
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Mr. Fields reported to the Board on a proposal to invest school corporation funds. The Board approved to enter into an agreement with Money Concepts to make, deposit, and conduct investments for the school corporation, including municipals, CD's, and treasuries.
  • The following documents were signed by all Board members:
    • Minutes of the January 11, 2018 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to DeVoe Chevrolet, Community Hospital Anderson, Deborah Wood Associates, Inc., Salesforce, and Frankton High School Class of 1949; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates.
    • March 5, 2018: Academic Hall of Fame Banquet, 6:30 p.m., Madison Park Church of God
    • March 8, 2018: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
    • March 21, 2018: Kindergarten & Age 4 Pre-school Round Up at Frankton & Lapel Elementary Schools, 2:00-6:00 p.m.
