Lapel High School student Logan Bradley led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Board approved the minutes from the April 20, 2017 school board meeting as presented.
The Board acknowledged Lapel High School which provided the information on the bulletin board for May.
Craig Martin, Jeff Hardin, and Bob McKinney from Johnson-Melloh Solutions, Inc. were present to report on the Statement of Qualifications submitted to the Board for the Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract for the solar energy project. The Board approved Johnson-Melloh Solutions as the Qualified Provider for the energy project. The Board also approved for Superintendent Bobby Fields to have the authority to sign contracts for the school corporation contingent on adequate financing for the energy project.
Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for May 2017.
The Board approved a request by Melanie Denniston, Director of Kids Learning Station, to use an FLCS school bus and bus driver for field trips.
The Board approved the bookstore hours and textbook rental fees for 2016-17.

The Board approved the following gifts:
Lapel Elementary School
$1,000.00 from the Parent-Teacher Group for the transportation fund
$320.00 from the Parent-Teacher Group for Spirit Sticks for field day
The Board approved a lunch price increase that is required by the National School Lunch Program. The new student lunch prices for 2017-18 are as follows: elementary-$2.25; jr.-sr. high school-$2.40.
The Board approved to reinvest the school corporation’s earnings of $942.00 from the Madison County Community Foundation back into the foundation.
The Board approved a policy concerning extra-curricular and athletic activities for homeschooled, private or parochial school students who attend FLCS.
The Board approved a request by Lapel Middle School Band Director Andrew Steck to decommission band instruments and equipment from the LMS inventory in order to sell or recycle the instruments/equipment.
The Board approved the FLCS student handbook 2017-18.

Mr. Fields and Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported to the Board on the refinancing of the Lapel High School lease rental bonds and the recommendations on how to spend the money from the refinancing of the bonds.
Mr. Fields and Mr. Boles reported to the Board on the hiring of an Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds.
