Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School student Tyra Tackitt led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School students Tyra Gordon, Cameron Klabunde, Aubrey Taylor, and Will Whatley, and teacher Brett Sanders reported to the Board on the Peer Helpers program at the high school.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the April 19, 2018 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School which provided the information on the bulletin board for May.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for May 2018.
  • Frankton Elementary School principal Ronda Podzielinski was present to report on the On My Way Pre-K program.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields updated the Board on the lead sampling report for Lapel High School.
  • The Board approved the bookstore hours and textbook rental fees for 2018-19.
  • The Board approved a bus rental request by Doug Doan, youth pastor for the Florida Station Church of God, to use an FLCS school bus and bus driver to transport children to the Church of God’s International Youth Convention in Indianapolis.

      • $105.12 from Donors Choose for Mrs. Walsh’s 6th grade classroom
      • $100.00 from Ann Foster, in memory of Sara Jane Smith, for student activities
    • Lapel High School
      • $325.00 for the show choir as follows: Nancy & Chance Carpenter, $200; Mrs. James Layton, $100; Carolyn Wilson, $25
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip:

  • The Board approved to reinvest the school corporation’s earnings of $969.00 from the Madison County Community Foundation back into the foundation.
  • The Board approved to sell 2 school buses designated for the high school bands and purchase each band a trailer to transport band equipment to band competitions.

  • The Board approved the following resignation:

  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the April 19, 2018 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to Bob’s Auto Parts, Phil & Tami Davis, E&B Paving, Elwood Tire & Auto Service, POET Biorefining, Ann Foster, Nancy & Chance Carpenter, Mrs. James Layton, Carolyn Wilson; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
