Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel Elementary School students Dianna Peercy and Luke Peercy led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the August 10, 2017 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Elementary School which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for September.
  • The Board held a public hearing to receive questions and comments regarding the proposed 2018 budgets as advertised.  No one addressed the Board about the proposed budgets.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the initial enrollment for the beginning of school.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for August 2017.
  • Mr. Fields discussed with the Board a request by Frankton Heritage Days to use school property.  The request was denied because no motion to approve was made by a Board member.
  • Mr. Fields updated the Board on the Cunningham farm ground.
  • The Board approved to appoint Tom Tudor to the Anderson City, Anderson, Stony Creek and Union Townships Public Library Board of Trustees to serve the remainder of the term replacing Greg Fisher, who resigned his position.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:

      • Partners-N-Concrete, $12,239.25 towards work they did on the baseball field dugouts
  • The Board approved for the schools in the corporation to pay for supplies and equipment from the extra-curricular fund titled “General Fund” during the 2017-18 school year.
  • The Board approved for the schools in the corporation to accept and deposit all monetary donations and gifts during the 2017-18 school year.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips for Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School:
    • 8th Grade Class to Washington, D.C. on October 4-6, 2017       
    • History Club to The PrivateBank Theatre in Chicago on November 15, 2017    
    • High School students to Germany, Italy, and Switzerland on March 25-April 3, 2019
    • High School students to Belize in Summer 2019
  • The Board approved to purchase three (3) 78 passenger buses with a two-camera system and a 10-year engine warranty.  The Board also approved to declare four (4) buses as surplus equipment and to sell the buses.
  • The Board approved a request by the Madison Park Church of God to use FLCS school buses and bus drivers to transport students to an event on September 30, 2017, and the State Youth Convention in Indianapolis on October 20-22, 2017.

  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • The Board discussed the need for additional parking at Frankton Elementary School.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the August 10, 2017 school board meeting; thank you letter to Partners-N-Concrete; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.  Also, Certificate of Appointment for Public Library Board Member by Board President Brian Gill; and contracts for Technology Systems Engineer, Director of Buildings and Grounds, and Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds by Mr. Gill and Board Secretary Joanne Amick.
  • Announcements were made of the following days:
