Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel High School student Joseph Conrad led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the November 9, 2017 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel High School, which provided the information on the bulletin board for November.
  • Lapel High School Spanish teacher Julie Storm and senior students Sophia Cline and Chance Green reported on their recent trip to London, Paris, Madrid, and Toledo. The Board approved for Lapel High School students to take the trip to Europe on October 28-November 6, 2018.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the health insurance claims for November 2017.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the parent-teacher conferences that were held October 18 & 19, 2017.
  • The Board approved the corporation calendar for 2018-19
  • The Board approved a tentative date for the Academic Hall of Fame Banquet for the Class of 2018 of Monday, March 5, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Madison Park Church of God. The banquet recognizes all members of the Class of 2018 with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • The Board approved the following schedule for the regular board meetings in 2018:
    • January 11, February 8, March 8, April 19, May 10, June 14, July 12, August 9, September 13, October 11, November 8, and December 13. All of the above dates are the second Thursday of the month except for April 19 (31d Thursday due to Spring Break).
  • The Board approved to give gift cards to bus drivers for perfect attendance for the 2016-17 school year.

  • The Board approved the 2018 insurance proposal as presented by USI Insurance Services-Muncie.
  • The Board approved for notification of the 2018 school board meetings to any newspaper requesting the information.
  • The Board approved the payment of 2017 bills and transfers of appropriations.
  • The Board approved the joint services agreement with the Hamilton-Boone-Madison Special Services Cooperative.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the Teacher Appreciation Grant the school corporation received from the state to be paid out to all classroom teachers.
  • The Board approved to use General Fund monies to pay counselors and certified teachers who are not in the classroom the same amount as the classroom teachers.
  • The Board approved an updated textbook adoption policy.
  • Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported on the recent sale of 2 buses. The Board approved Mr. Boles' request to sell a truck and a plow.

  • Mr Fields and Mt Boles updated the Board on the solar project.
  • Mr. Fields reported to the Board on future facility needs for the school corporation. The Board approved to have a 3rd party conduct a comprehensive facility needs assessment.
