Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel Middle School student Mariah Mason led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the April 21, 2016 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Middle School which provided the information on the bulletin board for May.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the recommendations of the Facilities Committee on how to spend the money that will be received from the refinancing of bonds.  The Board approved the recommendations.
  • The Board approved to hire a collection agency to collect outstanding student fees owed by parents.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for May 2016.
  • The Board approved the bookstore hours and textbook rental fees for 2016-17.
  • The Board approved a donation of $200.00 from the school corporation to sponsor the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School band and choir at the 2016 Frankton Heritage Days.
  • The Board approved the following fundraising requests:

  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Corporation
      • $193.00 from Rydman & Fox for a donation of chemicals

      • $7,000.00 from the Parent-Teacher Group for chromebooks for the 2nd grade
      • $2,000.00 from the Parent-Teacher Group for Reading Week t-shirts
    • Lapel High School
      • $10,000.00 from an anonymous donor for a Teachers for Tomorrow scholarship 
  • The Board approved a lunch price increase that is required by the National School Lunch Program.  The new student lunch prices for 2016-17 are as follows: elementary-$2.15; jr.-sr. high school-$2.30.
  • The Board approved to reinvest the school corporation’s earnings of $917.00 from the Madison County Community Foundation back into the foundation.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Music teacher David Casterline is requesting to take choir members to Kings Island in Mason, Ohio on May 13, 2016.
      • Life skills teacher Kyley Cress is requesting to take students in the Life Skills class to Kings Island in Mason, Ohio on May 19, 2016 or May 26, 2016.
      • Band director James Handshoe is requesting to take band/guard members to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio on June 4, 2016.
      • Senior Class sponsor Theresa Edwards is requesting to take members of the Senior Class of 2017 to New York City on March 21-25, 2017.
      • Coach Brent Brobston is requesting to take members of the boys basketball team to Michigan State University and Cedar Point on June 16-19, 2016.
