Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel High School state champion boys’ basketball team members Caleb Bloom, Triston Carpenter, Levi Frazier, Ross Hagen, Kamron Herrington, Josiah Hudson, Andrew Hunt, Will Jones, Austin Lyons, Preston Scott, and Brady Smith led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the March 10, 2016 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel High School which provided the information on the bulletin board for April.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the health insurance claims for March 2016.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the wind damage to the administration office, Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School, and Lapel Elementary School that occurred on April 2, 2016.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the proposed Anderson Memory Care facility that will be located in the district and the tax abatement public hearing that was held on April 14, 2016.
  • Mr. Fields and Board President Tami Davis reported on the school schedule for the end of the 2015-16 school year.
  • The Board approved to apply to hold the 2017 Academic Hall of Fame at the Madison Park Church of God on March 6, 2017.
  • The Board approved a new school corporation organization chart.
  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Prom Committee
      • FFA
      • Students of Service
      • Jr. High Student Council (2)
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $1,055.00 from Lapel Truck & Trailer for a new scoreboard
    • Lapel Middle School
      • $500.00 from Wright Family Practice for the National Jr. Honor Society
  • The Board approved the math recommendations for 2016-17 through 2021-22.
  • The Board approved the following three (3) policies for the policy manual:
    • Collection and Forgiveness of Debt
    • Criminal Gangs and Criminal Gang Activity in Schools
    • Internal Controls
  • The Board approved the following students for transfer tuition who moved out of the district in 2015-16:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Adrien Moreland – 2nd grade
      • Kaylynn Moreland – 5th grade
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Trace Broadbent – 7th grade
  • The Board approved a waiver from the implementation of protected taxes for taxes payable in 2016.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:     
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Destiny Casey – Assistant girls track coach
    • Lapel High School
      • Bob Hildebrand – Baseball coach (volunteer)
      • Andrew Steck – Band director/Summer band director
  • The Board approved the following resignations:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Jerrica Riggs – Kindergarten teacher, as of June 1, 2016, 8 years of service to FLCS 
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • Lindsay Roundtree – Grade 1 teacher, as of June 1, 2016, 12 years of service to FLCS 
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the car break-ins at Lapel High School.
  • Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported on the Technology Committee meeting.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the March 10, 2016 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to Lapel Truck & Trailer and Wright Family Practice; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
