Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School students Tarah Collins, Nate Gollmer, and Jacob Whatley led the Pledge of Allegiance. 
  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 12, 2015 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for March.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High Schools senior students Tarah Collins, Nate Gollmer, and Jacob Whatley for winning honorable mention honors in C-Span’s national 2015 StudentCam competition.  The students will receive $250.00 for their documentary film examining the proposed Mounds Lake Reservoir.
  • Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported reported on the health insurance claims for February 2014.
  • The Board approved the age 4 pre-school/extended care fees for 2015-16.
  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Grade 6
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Spanish Club
      • Service Learning Club
      • Softball Team
      • Trip to England   
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • General Fund
      • Student Council
      • Grade 5
  • The Board approved a contract between the school corporation and MPX Solutions to install an antenna on the Frankton Elementary School tower.         
  • The Board approved a job description for Technology Instructional Coach.
  • The Board approved to apply for the Madison County Education Coalition’s Kindergarten Camp Grant for summer 2015.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip requests:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School U.S. history classes to the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio on March 28, 2015. 
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School choirs to King’s Island Amusement & Waterpark in Mason, Ohio on May 16, 2015.
  • The Board approved the following transfer tuition student for 2014-15:
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Anwah Stamps – grade 8
  • The Board approved the following retirements:
    • Corporation
      • Mike Johnson – Bus mechanic, as of July 1, 2015, 41 years of service to FLCS
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Sandy Miller – Math teacher, at the end of the 2014-15 school year, 31 years of service to FLCS
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • Sue Kiefer – Speech/language/hearing pathologist, at the end of the 2014-15 school year, 12 years of service to FLCS              
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Mr. Boles reported to the Board on the sale of two (2) school buses that were declared as surplus at the February board meeting.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the February 12, 2015 school board meeting; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • March 19, 2015: Kindergarten & Age 4 Pre-school Round Up at Frankton & Lapel Elementary Schools, 2:30-6:30 p.m.
    • April 3, 2015: No School
    • April 6-10, 2015: Spring Break
    • April 16, 2015: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
