Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Members and coaches of the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School state runner-up boy’s basketball team led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the March 12, 2015 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School which provided the information on the bulletin board for April.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the health insurance claims for March 2015.
  • Mr. Fields and Board President Joe Kelich reported on the school schedule for the end of the 2014-15 school year.
  • The Board approved to apply to hold the 2016 Academic Hall of Fame at the Madison Park Church of God on March 7, 2016.
  • The Board approved a donation of $200.00 from the school corporation to sponsor the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School band and choir at the 2015 Frankton Heritage Days.
  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:

      • Girls Tennis Team
    • Lapel High School
      • Baseball Team
      • Boys Basketball Team  
      • Softball Team
  • The Board approved the following gift:
    • Lapel High School
      • $1,250.00 from Buckeye Valley Pizza Hut for the basketball tourney free throw contest
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip:
    • Lapel High School Junior/Senior Trip to to King’s Island, Ohio on May 3, 2015
  • The Board approved a request by Transportation Director Sterling Boles to purchase an 18 passenger bus with a wheelchair lift and a single camera system for the bus.
  • The Board approved the following summer camps:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Youth Football Camp
      • Wrestling Camp (FJSHS)
      • Wrestling Camp (Wabash College)
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition request for the 2014-15 school year:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • Grade 2 – Ethan O’Quinn      
  • The Board approved a request by Geep Harrison, President of the Frankton Coaches Pitch League, to use 2 FLCS school buses to attend an Indianapolis Indians game. 
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Lapel High School (all of these coaches are volunteers)
      • Chris Bower – Assistant softball coach
      • Rene Casas – Assistant baseball coach
      • J.D. Trammen – Assistant baseball coach
      • Matthew Ulm – Assistant baseball coach
      • Cal Wilson – Assistant baseball coach
  • The Board approved the following retirements:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Karen Richardson – Administrative assistant/Student Support director, as of July 1, 2015, 24 years of service to FLCS                                 
  • Lapel Middle School
    • Leigh Ann Shafer – Grade 6, as of June 1, 2015, 42 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Jerry Cunningham, Frankton, spoke to the Board about gifting 47 acres of farm ground/wooded ground to the school corporation.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the March 12, 2015 school board meeting; letter of appreciation to Buckeye Valley Pizza Hut; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • May 14, 2015: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
