  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 13, 2014 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel High School which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for March.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported reported on the health insurance claims for February 2014.
  • The Board approved the pre-school fees for 2014-15.
  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:

  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $25.00 from Boyde & Kate Nelson for the General Fund
      • $50.00 from Leslie & Dusty Sarazan for the General Fund
    • Lapel High School
      • $100.00 from an anonymous donor for the Bulldog Mentor Program
      • $25.00 gift card from PayLess Grocery for the blood draw
      • $305.00 in gift certificates from Pizza Hut for the blood draw
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip requests:
    • Frankton Elementary School 6th grade students to Cincinnati, Ohio on May 16, 2014.
  • The Board approved the following summer camps:
    • Lapel Middle School Track Camp
    • Lapel High School Softball Clinic
  • The Board approved a request by Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles to declare 3 school buses as surplus equipment and list them on Craigslist for sale.
  • The Board approved the following retirements at the end of the 2013-14 school year:
    • Lapel High School
      • Dorinda Cassiday – Social studies teacher, 36 years of service to FLCS
      • Richard Cassiday – Mathematics teacher, 35 years of service to FLCS
      • Larry Schuler – Math/science teacher, 41 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Lapel High School
      • Angie Jones – Assistant softball coach
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Jeff Long from the Frankton girls softball team reported to the Board about the proposed improvement plans for the softball complex which the team leases from the school corporation for $1.00 per year.  The plans includes building another press box, building a new fence, putting up new lights, putting in additional parking, and moving one of the diamonds. 
    • The Board approved the plans contingent upon the softball organization getting approval and/or a permit from the town of Frankton to put up the light poles and build the press box, and presenting the building plans in writing to the Board for final approval.
  • Board members Tami Davis and Randy Cunningham spoke to the Board concerning the traffic problem at Frankton Elementary School.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the February 13, 2014 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to Boyde & Kate Nelson, Leslie & Dusty Sarazan, PayLess Grocery, and Pizza Hut; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • March 27, 2014: Kindergarten & Age 4 Pre-school Round Up at Frankton &
    • Lapel Elementary Schools, 12:00-7:00 p.m.
    • April 4, 2014: No School
    • April 7-11, 2014: Spring Break
    • April 17, 2014: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
