Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel Middle School student Kristen Hobbs led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the March 13, 2014 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Middle School which provided the information on the bulletin board for April.
  • Cory Sharp from the Purdue College of Technology reported to the Board on the Young Entrepreneurs Academy.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the state waiver from implementation of protected taxes for 2014.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the projected enrollment for the school corporation for the 2014-15 school year.
  • Mr. Fields reported reported on the health insurance claims for March 2014.
  • Mr. Fields and Board President Brian Gill reported on the school schedule for the end of the 2013-14 school year.
  • The Board approved a donation of $200.00 from the school corporation to sponsor the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School band and choir at the 2014 Frankton Heritage Days.
  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:

  • The Board approved the following gift:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $2,000.00 from the Lapel Elementary Parent-Teacher Group for Reading Week
  • The Board approved for the school corporation to donate $200.00 to the 2014 Frankton Heritage Days to sponsor the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School band and choir.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip:
    • Lapel High School Senior Trip to Louisville, Kentucky on May 27, 2014
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests for the 2013-14 school year:
    • Frankton Elementary School (these children were already enrolled but have recently moved out of the district)
      • Landon Atkinson – kindergarten
      • Kayleigh Atkinson – grade 1
      • Christopher Atkinson – grade 6
      • Za’Khya Gillespie – kindergarten
      • Rayven Gillespie – grade 5
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • Pre-School

  • The Board approved the middle school and high school World Languages and English Language Arts textbook series for the 2014-15 school year.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Todd Miller – Boys track coach
    • Lapel High School
      • Brodie Williams – Boys golf coach
  • The Board approved the following retirement:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • Debby Davis – Grade 4 teacher, at the end of the 2013-14 school year, 40 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
    • Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported on the corporation buses sold on Craig’s List.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the March 13, 2014 school board meeting; letter of appreciation to the LES Parent-Teacher Group; accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
