Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Patrons Esther Berger and Dorothy Cawthorn led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the September 12, 2013 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board approved the 2014 budgets and plans as follows: 
    • General Fund Budget, Debt Service Budget, Capital Projects Plan & Budget, Transportation Operating Budget, and Transportation Bus Replacement Plan & Budget.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the official ADM count taken on Friday, September 13, 2013.
  • Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported on the results of the ISTEP testing.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims for September 2013.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the parent-teacher conferences to be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 and Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 3:00-6:30 p.m., with the students being released 45 minutes early on those days.
  • The Board approved the 2014-15 school corporation calendar.
  • The Board approved a revised Administrative Handbook.
  • The Board approved a bullying policy for the corporation.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:

  • The Board approved an out-of-state field trip request for members of the Frankton and Lapel FFA to attend the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky on October 30, 2013.
  • The Board approved a Substance Abuse Policy for employees with commercial driver’s licenses.

  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • Jeremy Parker, Anderson, and Kevin Brattain, Lapel, spoke to the Board about the difference between the pay for coaches who are teachers in the school corporation and coaches who are not teachers in the school corporation.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the September 12, 2013 school board meeting; 2014 budget forms; thank you letter to LES Parent Teacher Group; revised teacher contracts; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.  Also Conflict of Interest statements by Board President Joe Kelich.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • October 16 & 17, 2013: Parent-Teacher Conferences – 3:00 to 6:30 p.m.
    • October 18 & 21, 2013: Fall Break – No School
    • November 14, 2013: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
