Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School students Blake Michaels and Zach Turner led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 14, 2013 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for March.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the CAPE Educational Gold Star Award given to Frankton Elementary School and Lapel Elementary School.
  • The Board approved the pre-school fees for 2013-14.
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
    • $225.00 for the high school choir as follows: 
      • $175.00 from the Frankton Lions Club, $50.00 from the Frankton First United Methodist Church
  • The Board approved Linda Hormell as the school corporation representative to the Lapel Park Board.
  • The Board approved the renewal rate for the school corporation life insurance plan.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip requests:
    • Lapel High School French class/club members to France on April 4-12, 2014. 
    • Lapel High School social studies students to Cincinnati on March 28, 2013.
  • The Board approved to purchase a truck for the transportation department.
  • The Board approved the Lapel Baseball Camp.
  • The Board approved the following tuition students:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Cole Baker – grade 7
      • Kelby Wheeler – grade 8
      • Trey Short – grade 11
      • Payton Ramsey – grade 12
  • The Board approved the recommendation of the elementary schools of Scott Foresman’s Reading Street as the elementary textbook reading series for 2013-14.
  • The Board approved for Lapel Elementary School to have a Special Olympics Clothing Collection Bin placed on school property to make Lapel Elementary a member of their partnership program.
  • The Board approved for the school corporation to donate $200.00 to the Frankton Heritage Days to sponsor the Frankton High School band and choir.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Gina Russel – Speech teacher, placed on unpaid leave as of February 15, 2013; Termination of employment with FLCS as of March 14, 2013
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Leon Mudd – Golf coach
    • Lapel High School
      • Keith Lynch- Assistant Boys Track Coach
      • Banner Montgomery – Assistant Girls Track Coach
      • Scott Rich – Varsity Softball Coach
  • The Board approved the following resignation:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Julie Fritsche – Junior high math teacher, at the end of the 2012-13 school year, 5 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Board member Tami Davis spoke to the Board about the appearance of two Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School students on the Indianapolis television station Channel 8’s report on a factory relocation from Noblesville to Elwood.
  • Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles reported to the Board that an Indiana State Trooper had told one of the school corporation’s bus drivers that Frankton-Lapel was their favorite bus inspection due to the work of the bus mechanics.
  • Board member Mike Rusche reported to the Board of his positive experience of attending the Academic Hall of Fame Banquet.
  • Board member Alan Bays updated the Board of the annexation proposal that was being voted on tonight.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the February 14, 2013 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to Frankton Lions Club and Frankton First United Methodist Church; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • March 21, 2013: Kindergarten & Age 4 Pre-school Round Up at Frankton & Lapel Elementary Schools, 12:00-7:00 p.m.
    • April 1-5, 2013: Spring Break
    • April 18, 2013: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
