  • The Board approved the minutes from the May 9, 2013 school board meeting as presented.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields gave a report reviewing the school corporation goals for 2012-13 and how the corporation fared in accomplishing the goals.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the health insurance claims so far for 2013 compared to 2012.
  • The Board approved not to renew the contract of Jerry Hoss, Principal of Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests for the 2013-14 school year:

      • $500 from the Lapel Community Association for the Band Department

      • $900.00 from the South Madison Community Foundation/Lapel Youth Commission for the purchase of a floor mat with the school logo
  • The Board approved to reinvest the school corporation’s earnings of $905.00 from the Madison County Community Foundation back into the Foundation.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • Lapel varsity boys basketball team to a basketball camp at Northwood University in Midland, Michigan on June 14-16, 2013.
  • The Board approved the school nutrition program with the Department of Education for 2013-14.
  • The Board approved the following summer camps:
    • Frankton High School Boys Wrestling Camp
    • Lapel Boys Basketball Camp
    • Lapel Girls Basketball Camp
    • Lapel Middle School Track Clinic
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Laura Spaulding – Grade 4 teacher
      • Alicia King – Special Education teacher
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High
      • Brian Williams – Jr. High Math Teacher 
    • Lapel High School
      • Hillary Eppert – Varsity volleyball coach
  • The Board approved the administrative contracts for July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014.
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • Several patrons, including John Henderson, Ray Utterback, Bill Brobston, John Delph, Brad Johns, Brad Douglas, Haley Kelich, and J.R. Spellman, spoke to the Board concerning the contract termination of Jerry Hoss.
  • Ray Utterback spoke to the Board concerning the parking area at Frankton Elementary School.
  • The following documents were signed by Board members: 
    • Minutes of the May 9, 2013 school board meetings; administrator contracts; letters of appreciation to Lapel Community Association and South Madison Community Foundation/Lapel Youth Commission; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • July 11, 2013: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
