Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Elementary School students Grace Alexander, Logan Gephardt, Garrett Martin, and Kolby Mauck led the Pledge of Allegiance. 
    • The students, all Student Council members, reported to the Board on Student Council activities for the school year.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the November 14, 2013 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Elementary School, who provided the information on the bulletin board for December.
  • Lapel High School English teacher Jerry Kemerly and students Brandon Burkett, Emily Cline, Gavin Fisher, and Rachel Thalls reported on their trip to Europe. 
    • The Board approved for Lapel High School students to take the trip to Europe in the Fall of 2014.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the health insurance claims for November 2013.
  • The Board approved the 2014 insurance proposal as presented by First Merchants Insurance Group-Pendleton.
  • The Board approved a tentative date for the Academic Hall of Fame Banquet for the Class of 2014 of March 10, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Madison Park Church.  The banquet recognizes all members of the Class of 2014 with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • The Board approved a $3,000,000 line of credit from First Merchants Bank, if needed, to offset any shortfall of the school corporation’s property tax payments.
  • The Board approved the following schedule for the regular board meetings in 2014:
    • January 9, February 13, March 13, April 17, May 8, June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11, October 9, November 13, and December 11.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Corly Ludwig – Grade 1
      • Ashtin Sigler – Grade 1
      • Austin Sigler – Grade 3

      • Joshua Crosby – Grade 1

  • The Board approved the following fund raising activities:

      • National Honor Society
  • The Board approved the following gifts and donations:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • $100.00 from William Braddick for the Goodwill Fund
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $989.21 from the South Madison Community Foundation for teacher supplies
    • Lapel High School
      • $330.00 in gift certificates to support the LHS blood draw as follows: $305 from Pizza Hut, $25 from PayLess Grocery on Cross St.
      • $1,875.00 from the South Madison Community Foundation for teacher supplies
    • Lapel Middle School
      • $1,100.00 from the South Madison Community Foundation for teacher supplies
  • The Board approved for notification of the 2014 school board meetings to any newspaper requesting the information.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip:
    • Lapel High School show choir to Chicago for the show choir tour on March 20-22, 2014. 
  • The Board approved the payment of 2013 bills and transfers of appropriations.
  • The Board approved the following recommendation:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Nathan Nocton – Jr. high wrestling coach
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • Mr. Fields spoke to the Board about budget issues for the school corporation:
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the November 14, 2013 school board meeting; resolutions for payment of 2013 bills and transfer of funds; letters of appreciation to William Braddick, Pizza Hut, Pay Less, and South Madison Community Foundation; and accounts payable voucher register, payroll claim listings, and hand check listing.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • December 20, 2013: Last Student Day of 2013
    • January 6, 2014: First Student Day of 2014
    • January 9, 2014: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
