Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School seniors Blake Michael and Zach Turner led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the August 9, 2012 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board held a public hearing to receive questions and comments regarding the proposed 2013 budgets as advertised.  No one addressed the Board about the proposed budgets.
  • Gary Shuck from the Lapel Town Board spoke to the Board about the convenient store north of Lapel Elementary, the cart/walking/bike path that connects the new addition to the town, and the retention pond that will be built behind the new gas station north of Lapel Elementary School.  The Board approved a request by the National Gas Company to tie into the tile (drain) on the school corporation’s property at no cost to the school corporation and the repair of the broken section of the tile at a cost to the gas company.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the initial enrollment for the 2012-13 school year.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the status of the negotiations with the teacher’s union concerning health insurance.

    • Lapel High School – Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • Lapel 8th grade class to Washington, D.C. on May 8-12, 2013 (approximate dates). 
    • Frankton Senior Class to New York City on March 19-23, 2013.

  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • Board member Joanna Amick reported to the Board on several safety issues at the Frankton schools that have been brought to her attention.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members
    • Minutes of the August 9, 2012 school board meeting; teacher contracts; and accounts payable voucher register.
  • Announcements were made of the following days:
