Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Elementary School Student Council members Grace Baer, Katelynn Hughes, and Cameron Klabunde led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the January 12, 2012 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Elementary School which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for February.
  • Frankton Elementary School Principal Ronda Podzielinski reported on the Top Gainer Award from the Indiana Student Achievement Institute won by Frankton Elementary School.  This is the second consecutive year the school has won the award, which is given for improvement in ISTEP performance.
  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School Principal Jerry Hoss addressed the Board about a letter of complaint about the Frankton cheer block from the grandfather of an Elwood basketball player.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields gave a presentation on Public Law 221 Accountability and how the state is changing to an A-F grading designation for schools.
  • Mr. Fields gave a presentation on the newly released graduation rates for the high schools in the school corporation for 2011.
  • The Board approved the re-appointment of Greg Fisher to the Anderson City, Anderson, Stony Creek and Union Township Public Library Board.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:

  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • Frankton Post Prom trip to Kings Island in Ohio on May 6, 2012
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School choirs to King’s Island in Ohio on May 19, 2012
  • The Board approved to declare spare buses 1 and 17 as surplus equipment so they can be sold at auction.
  • The Board approved the following recommendation:
    • Lapel High School
      • Keith Lynch – Assistant boys track coach
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported that the date for incoming pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students to be eligible to enroll is August 1st of the coming school year.  These students must be age 5 by this date.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the measles immunization letter sent to FLCS employees.
  • Board Member Brian Gill commented on the “A” rating given to Frankton-Lapel Community Schools.
