Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

 

  • Lapel Elementary School 3rd grade student Makayla McDole led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the August 11, 2011 and September 1, 2011 school board meetings as presented.
  • The Board approved the 2012 budgets for the General Fund, Debt Service Fund, Retirement/Severance Bond Debt Service Fund, Capital Projects Fund, Transportation Operating Fund, and Transportation Bus Replacement Fund.  The Board also approved the Capital Projects Fund Plan and Transportation Bus Replacement Plan for 2012.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the initial enrollment for the 2011-12 school year.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:

  • The Board approved the following commencement days for the Class of 2012:
    • Alternative School at the Administration Office – Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 7:00 p.m
    • Frankton High School – Friday, June 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
    • Lapel High School – Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. 
      • These dates may be adjusted if 180 days of school are not completed by June 8, 2012.
  • The Board approved the construction invoices for September.
  • The Board approved a Frankton High School senior class trip to New York City on March 20-24, 2012. 
  • The Board approved a resolution to appoint the Superintendent to execute amendments to the school corporation’s Valic 401(b) annuity plan.
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • $10.00 from the Frankton High School Class of 1949 for the Emma Copeland Reading Scholarship Fund in Memory of Orpha Tranbarger Swanson
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $10.00 from Microsoft/JustGive.org for the General Fund
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Jessica Slown – ½ day kindergarten teacher/½ day pre-school teacher
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Kristina Wagner – Spanish teacher 
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Jennifer Morgan – English teacher 
      • Zach Newby – Mathematics/science teacher 
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • Bill Hutton, Lapel, spoke to the Board concerning a proposal by the Town of Lapel to build a softball diamond near Lapel Middle/Elementary School.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the August 11, 2011 and September 1, 2011 school board meetings; budget forms; letters of appreciation to Nelma Moore and JustGive.org; and accounts payable voucher register.
  • Announcements were made of the following days:
    • October 13, 2011: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
