Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

 

  • Lapel High School senior Zach Zehner led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the October 13, 2011 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel High School, which provided the information on the bulletin board for November.
  • John Willis, Lapel High School math teacher, reported on the ALEKS online math program for Jr. High algebra I and math.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the free textbook statistics for 2011-12.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the parent-teacher conferences that were held October 28, 20101
  • Mr. Fields discussed with the Board the pros and cons of a balanced calendar for the school corporation.
  • The Board approved for the school corporation to borrow funds on tax anticipation warrants from the Indiana Bond Bank for 2012.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition request:  
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Ashlee Davidson – grade 8
  • The Board approved the following construction invoice:
    • J.L. Fox, Inc. - $2,500.00
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • $425.11 for the Goodwill Fund from the First United Methodist Church in Frankton
      • $101.41 from Gordon Food Service for the General Fund
      • $246.74 from Target through the Take Charge of Education School Fundraising Program for the General Fund
      • $100.00 from Rydman & Fox for the Halloween Read-In
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $1,500.00 from the Parent-Teacher Group for the Transportation Fund
  • The Board approved new policies for Animals in Classrooms, Chemical Management, and Vehicle Idling.
  • The Board approved the Joint Service Agreement of the Hamilton-Boone-Madison Special Services Cooperative for 2011-12.
  • The Board approved the following field trips:
    • Frankton 8th to Washington, D.C. and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on October 2-6, 2012. 
    • Lapel 8th grade class to Washington, D.C. on May 9-11, 2012. 
  • The Board approved a resolution to place remaining 2011 appropriations from the various Frankton-Lapel Community Schools funds in the Rainy Day Fund as determined by the superintendent to help protect the school corporation in shortfalls of state funding and/or shortfalls in property tax collections.
  • The Board approved the recommendation of Assistant Superintendent Sterling Boles to purchase school buses from the 2011 Bus Replacement budget.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Tony Cole – Boys track coach
      • Mark Jones – 6th grade boys basketball coach
    • Lapel High School
      • Baily Bremer – Color guard director
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: 
    • Minutes of the October 13, 2011 school board meeting; transfer of Rainy Day funds resolution; letters of appreciation to First United Methodist Church, Gordon Food Service, Target, Rydman & Fox, and Lapel Elementary School Parent-Teacher Group; and accounts payable voucher register.  Also, Joint Service Agreement by Superintendent Bobby Fields and Board President Joe Kelich.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • November 23-25, 2011: Thanksgiving Break
    • December 8, 2011: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
