Frankton-Lapel Community Schools


  • High Abilities students Paige Collins, Connor Gill, and Josh Likens led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the January 13, 2011 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged the High Abilities class which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for February.
  • Frankton Elementary School Principal Ronda Podzielinski reported on the Top Gainer Award from the Indiana Student Achievement Institute won by Frankton Elementary School, which was one of 46 schools in the state to win the award which is given for improvement in ISTEP performance.
  • The Board approved the base bids of Stenz Construction Company for the construction projects at Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School and Lapel Elementary/Middle School. The Board also approved to apply for $2,000,000.00 in no interest bonds.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition request:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • Ila Lawless – Kindergarten
  • The Board approved Conflict of Interest Statements for Matt Bannon and Melissa Bannon.
  • The Board approved a request by Warren Huntzinger to connect the drainage tile north of the football field in Lapel to the drainage tile west of the football field contingent upon the approval of the project by the Town of Lapel and the County Drainage Board and at the total expense of Mr. Huntzinger.
  • The Board approved the following gift:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • $10.00 from the Frankton High School Class of 1949 for the Emma Copeland Reading Scholarship Fund in memory of Marjorie Lamb
  • The Board approved the dates for the kindergarten and age 4 pre-school round-up as follows:
    • Frankton Elem. March 24, 2011 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.
    • Lapel Elem. March 24, 2011 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Jacob Brunsman – Assistant band director
      • Greg Erwin – Assistant track coach
      • Kayla Powell – Softball JV coach
  • The Board approved the following resignation:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Melanie Moorer – Math teacher, 3½ years of service to FLCS, effective January 24, 2011
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • The following documents were signed by all Board members:
    • Minutes of the January 13, 2011 school board meeting; letter of acknowledgment for gift to Sherry Hodson; teacher contract; and accounts payable voucher register. Also, Conflict of Interest statements by Board President Nancy Likens.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • March 9, 2011: Academic Hall of Fame Banquet, 6:30 p.m., Anderson Country Club.
    • March 10, 2011: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
    • March 24, 2011: Kindergarten & Age 4 Pre-school Round Up at Frankton & Lapel Elementary Schools, 12:00-7:00 p.m.
