Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

 

  • The Board approved the minutes from the May 13, 2010 school board meetings as presented.
  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School social studies teacher Kevin Cline and students Jesse Pruitt and Aaron Delong reported on the formation and accomplishments of the FJSHS History Club.
  • Genny Zetterberg, Title I Director, reported on the current Title I and High Ability Grants and the grant applications for 2010-11.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the Qualified School Construction Bond application for $2,000,000 in interest-free bonds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA). The Board approved to have financial advisor Lonnie Thurber proceed with a $2,000,000 bond issue if the application is denied. The Board also approved for Gary Turner of L.W. Clinton to begin preparing construction documents for proposed construction projects.

  • The Board approved the following donations:
    • Lapel High School
      • Donations for work on the football field:
      • U.S. Aggregates of Perkinsville for #8 gravel
      • Ameri-turf in Chesterfield for 4 pallets of sod
      • David Leeman & Son Topsoil, Inc. for topsoil
      • Robertson Trucking for hauling the gravel & topsoil Chad Pilkington for set up and delivery of the topsoil
    • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
      • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School band and color guard to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio on June 12, 2010.
      • Lapel High School band and color guard to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Boston, Massachusetts on March 20, 2011, plus take a 1-day trip to New York City.
  • The Board approved the school lunch and breakfast prices for the 2010-11 school year as recommended by Food Service Director Ruth Iser.
    • The lunch prices will be as follows: Elementary, $1.75; Middle/High, $1.85; reduced, 40¢; adults, $2.50. Breakfast prices will be as follows: Elementary, $1.25; Middle/High, $1.35; reduced, 30¢; adult, $1.50.
  • The Board approved the school nutrition program with the Department of Education for 2010-11.
  • The Board approved the student handbook changes for the 2010-11 school year as presented by Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School Principal Jerry Hoss and Lapel High School Assistant Principal Chad Kemerly.
  • The Board approved the following summer school employees:
    • Credit Recovery, Frankton - Otis Cress
    • Credit Recovery, Lapel - Larry Schuler
  • The Board approved a $3,000,000 tax anticipation loan from MainSource Bank, if needed, to offset the June property tax payment if the payment is not received by the end of June.
  • The Board approved a request by the churches of Lapel to use five FLCS buses for their annual Community Unity gathering.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:

  • The Board approved the following resignations:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Brad Hess - 8th grade science teacher, 1 year of service to FLCS
    • Bus Driver
      • Carol Davidson - Lapel route #3, 30 years of service to FLCS
      • Marshal Shively - Frankton route #14, 7 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the administrative contracts for July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • James Handshoe, Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School Band Director, spoke to the Board about the music program in the school corporation.
  • The following documents were signed by Board members:
    • Minutes of the May 13, 2010 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to David Leeman & Son Topsoil, Inc., Robertson Trucking, Chad Pilkington, U.S. Aggregates, & Ameri-Turf; administrator contracts; and accounts payable voucher register.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • July 8, 2010: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m
