Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

 

  • Lapel High School student John Hettinga led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the November 11, 2010 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel High School, which provided the information on the bulletin board for December.
  • Lapel High School English teacher Jerry Kemerly and students Alex Boles, John Hettinga, and Brady Huntzinger reported on their trip to England, France, Switzerland, and Germany. The Board approved for Lapel High School students to take the trip to Europe in the Fall of 2011.
  • The Board approved a tentative date for the Academic Hall of Fame Banquet as March 9, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Anderson Country Club.
  • The Board approved the following schedule for the regular board meetings in 2011: January 13, February 10, March 10, April 21, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13, November 10, and December 8. All of the above dates are the second Thursday of the month except for April 21 (3rd Thursday due to Spring Break).
  • Gary Turner and Ed Soots of Lorenz Williams Clinton reported on the construction bid process and time schedule for the construction renovation project for Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School and Lapel Elementary/Middle School. The Board approved the bid process and time schedule for the construction project.
  • The Board approved a bid by Likens Farms to farm the 31 acres of farm ground at the Lapel High School site beginning with Spring, 2011.
  • The Board approved the following gift:
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $1,500 from the Lapel Elementary Parent-Teacher Group for the transportation fund
  • The Board approved the 2011 insurance proposal as presented by Pendleton Insurance Agency.
  • The Board approved a resolution to the Indiana state legislature regarding school funding inequities.
  • The Board approved for notification of the 2011 school board meetings to any newspaper requesting the information.
  • The Board approved the payment of 2010 bills and transfers of appropriations.
  • The Board approved a quote from Safety Tech to purchase fire alarm systems at Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School and Lapel Elementary/Middle School.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Nate Cress - Assistant wrestling coach
      • Brad McGriff - Freshman girls basketball coach
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Mark Helm - Wrestling coach
  • The Board approved the following retirement:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Ann Foster - Grade 1, at the end of the 2010-11 school year, 38 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members: Minutes of the November 11, 2010 school board meeting; state funding resolution; resolutions for payment of 2010 bills and transfer of funds; letter of appreciation to LES Parent-Teacher Group; and accounts payable voucher register.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • December 22, 2010: Last Student Day of 2010
    • January 3, 2011: First Student Day of 2011
    • January 13, 2011: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
