Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • LITES student Chase Kimmerling led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the January 15, 2009 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged the LITES Department which provided the information on the board room bulletin board for February.
  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School English teacher Andrea Coryell and students Tyler Davidson, Dylan Forrer, and Mason Hains reported on their trip to England this past fall.
    • The Board approved for Ms. Coryell to take her students to England, France, and Spain in the fall of 2009.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the tuition applications for the 2009-10 school year.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the end of the year finances for 2008 for the school corporation.
  • The Board approved an addition to the school corporations 403(b) plan for employees to payroll deduct into a Roth IRA.
  • The Board approved the final construction invoices from Greiner Brothers.
  • The Board approved the following gifts and donations:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • $781.50 from General Mills, Inc. from the Box Tops for Education Program for the General Fund
      • $8.10 from Gordon Food Service for the Student Activities Fund
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • $500.00 from Jonathan Skinner for the girl's basketball team
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $35.00 from Randolph & Kim Titus for the General Fund
      • $3,495.90 from General Mills, Inc. from the Box Tops for Education Program for the General/Transportation Fund
    • Lapel Middle School
      • $55.50 from General Mills, Inc. from the Box Tops for Education Program for the Activity Day fund
    • Corporation
      • $2,000.00 from U.S. Aggregates, Inc. for the Madison County Community Foundation to support the early childhood education program at FLCS
  • The Board approved the dates for the kindergarten and age 4 pre-school round-up as follows:
    • Lapel Elem. March 25, 2009 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.
    • Frankton Elem. April 16, 2009 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    • FFA students from Frankton and Lapel to a farm machinery show in Louisville, Kentucky on February 13, 2009.
    • Lapel Elementary 6th grade students to Louisville, Kentucky on May 15, 2009.
  • The Board approved for the school corporation to serve free drinks and refreshments to persons attending meetings at the administration office.
  • The Board approved a transfer tuition payment to MSD of Wabash Country for a Frankton-Lapel student enrolled in a family services facility in their district.
  • The Board approved for Chuck Covell, an FLCS bus driver, to use his bus to take Frankton Boy Scout Troup 398 to Ely, Minnesota in June, 2009.
  • The Board approved to apply for an Education Technology Common School Fund Loan with the Indiana Department of Education.
  • The Board approved to sponsor the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School band and choir as part of the 2009 Frankton Heritage Days.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
  • Frankton Elementary
    • Malina Sandman - substitute for 2nd grade teacher on maternity leave
    • Laura Spaulding - replacement for Malina Sandman in Title I remediation
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
    • Esther Burger, Frankton, thanked the Board for the Frankton Heritage Days sponsorship.
  • The following documents were signed by all Board members:
    • Minutes of the January 17, 2008 school board meeting
    • Accounts payable voucher register
    • Letters of appreciation to General Mills, Inc., Gordon Food Service, U.S. Aggregates, Inc., and Jonathan Skinner.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • March 12, 2009: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
