Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School junior Joseph Reid led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the October 9, 2008 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School, which provided the information on the bulletin board for November.
  • Frankton 8th grade students Olga Bingham, Joseph Reid, Joshua Reid, and Brianna Sizelove reported on their trip to Washington, D.C.
  • Superintendent Bobby Fields reported on the textbook reimbursement for 2008-09.
  • Mr. Fields reported on the parent-teacher conferences that were held October 28, 2008.
  • The Board approved for the school corporation to borrow funds on tax anticipation warrants.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:
    • Dane Busch, grade 2, Lapel Elementary School, 2008-09 school year
    • Dalton Busch, grade 7, Lapel Middle School, 2008-09 school year
  • The Board approved the following conflict of interest statements:
    • Andy Stewart & Stephanie Stewart.
  • The Board approved for Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School to open its weight room to adults and students in the community on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 6:00-8:00 p.m. beginning December 2, 2008.
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • $9.39 from Gordon Food Service for the General Fund
      • $70.00 from Papa John's Pizza in Elwood for the sixth grade class
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • $174.00 from the First United Methodist Church of Frankton for students in need
      • $25.00 from Nancy Likens for the athletic department
    • Lapel Elementary School
      • $110.00 from Trudy George for the Bradford Woods account
      • $100.00 from Bobbette Snyder for Reading Week activities
      • $301.28 from Target through the Take Charge of Education School Fundraising Program
    • Lapel Middle School
      • $26.18 from Target through the Take Charge of Education School Fundraising Program
  • The Board approved a resolution to place remaining 2008 appropriations from the various FLCS funds in the Rainy Day Fund as determined by the superintendent to help protect the school corporation in shortfalls of state funding and/or shortfalls in property tax collections.
  • The Board approved an amendment to the 401A retirement plan for employees.
  • The Board approved the construction bills for November.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:

  • The Board approved the following resignation:
    • Lapel High School
      • John Scholl, Industrial technology teacher, effective December 19, 2008
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the October 9, 2008 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to Gordon Food Service, Papa John's Pizza, First United Methodist Church of Frankton, Nancy Likens, Trudy George, Bobbette Snyder, and Target; and transfer of Rainy Day funds resolution. Also, conflict of interest statements and retirement plan amendment by Board President Alan Bays.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
