  • Mr. Speicher reported on the summer school programs for 2008.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the 2008-09 Title I grant.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests.

  • The Board approved the following gifts:

      • $869.20 from General Mills Box Top for Education Program for student activities

      • $450.00 from the Trinity United Methodist Church for the Washington, D.C. trip
  • The Board approved the language arts and world languages textbook recommendations for 2008-14.
  • The Board approved for the Lapel boys basketball coaches to take the boys basketball players to a basketball camp in Michigan on June 14-16, 2008.
  • The Board approved a private residential facility placement service contract with the State of Indiana.
  • The Board approved the summer camps for 2008.
  • The Board approved the following recommendation:
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • James Handshoe - Band Director
    • Corporation
      • Robert Fields - Superintendent
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • David Cagley, Special Education Director, spoke to the Board about his 40 years of service to the school corporation and thanked the Board and administration.
  • Board Member John Mitchell complimented music teacher Jeannine Terhune and band director Greg Scott for the recent musical production at Lapel High School.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the April 17, 2008 school board meeting; letters of appreciation to General Mills Box Top for Education and Trinity United Methodist Church; and administrator contract. Also, Private Residential Facility Placement agreement by Board President Nancy Likens and Vice President John Mitchell.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • May 29, 2008: Alternative School Graduation at Administration Office, 6:00 p.m.
    • May 30, 2008: Frankton High School Graduation, 7:00 p.m.
    • May 31, 2008: Lapel High School Graduation, 7:00 p.m.
    • June 12, 2008: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
