Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel High School student Mackenzie Jones led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel High School which provided the information on the bulletin board for March.
  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 12, 2008 and February 14, 2008 school board meetings as presented.
  • Superintendent Ned Speicher presented the financial report for the school corporation as of February 29, 2008.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the construction projects. The Board approved payment of the current construction invoices.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the estimated impact of the circuit breaker tax credit legislation for Madison County Schools.
  • Mr. Speicher announced that the Academic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held at the Anderson Country Club at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22nd. Frankton High School will have 19 students and Lapel High School will have 17 students to be honored.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the enrollment projection for the 2008-09 school year.

  • The Board approved the following gifts:

      • $130.00 from Sallie Mae as a matching grant donation
      • $1,000.00 from Wal-Mart as a matching grant donation
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip requests:
    • The Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School baseball team to go to Cincinnati, Ohio on April 20, 2008.
    • The Frankton 6th grade class to go to Chicago on May 2, 2008.
  • The Board approved the 3rd installment of the Special Education Cooperative billing for 2007-08.

        • Polly Pruitt - Family & consumer sciences teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year, 25 years of service to

        • Bud Clark - Grade 6 teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year, 35 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Jerry Cunningham, Frankton, complimented the Board on the new facilities in the school corporation and the test scores for the corporation, and discussed the property tax situation.
  • Alan Kilburn, Jackson Township, asked the Board to consider a corporation policy on workplace relationships.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the February 12, 2008 and February 14, 2008 school board meetings; revised teacher contracts; and letters of appreciation to Wal-Mart and Sallie Mae.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
