Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel Elementary School student Bethany Osborn led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes for the December 13, 2007 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Elementary School which provided the information on the bulletin board for January.
  • Superintendent Ned Speicher reported on the construction progress at all the school sites. The Board approved the monthly construction bills as presented.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the final appropriation balance for 2007. The Board approved to transfer money from the Capital Projects Fund and Transportation Fund to the Rainy Day Fund.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the alternative school for the first semester.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the progress on the school year goals for the school district.
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Frankton Elementary
      • $46.47 from Verizon through the Extra Credit for Schools Program.
    • Lapel Elementary
      • $248.13 from Target through the Take Charge of Education School Fundraising Program.
      • 80-100 Colts stretchable book covers for prizes for the ISTEP celebration party from Angela Lightfoot/T J Max in Noblesville
      • $115.00 for the Bradford Woods account from Lapel 6th grade students
      • $2,563.90 for student activities from General Mills, Inc. through the Box Tops for Education program
    • Corporation
      • $2,000.00 from The Heritage Group for the Madison County Community Foundation Early Childhood Education Initiative Matching Grant
  • The Board approved the following tuition request:
    • Duncan Titus, grade 9, Lapel High School, 2008-09 school year
    • Ethan Titus, grade 7, Lapel Middle School, 2008-09 school year
    • Isabelle Titus, grade 3, Lapel Elementary School, 2008-09 school year
  • The Board approved participation in the Title One program for 2008-09.
  • The Board approved an early retirement option for 2008 for certified teachers and administrators.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trip:
    • Frankton High School honor society on a ski trip to Kalamazoo, MI on February 22-24, 2008.
  • The Board approved the following recommendations:
    • Lapel Middle School
      • Lisa Holsinger - Office assistant
      • Linda Hormell - Jr. High cheerleading
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the December 13, 2007 school board meeting
    • Letters of appreciation to LES 6th grade students, Angela Lightfoot/T J Max Noblesville, Box Tops for Education, Target, The Heritage Group, & Verizon
    • Revised teacher contracts.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • February 14, 2008: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
