  • Lapel Middle School student Abigail Maxey led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the March 13, 2008 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Middle School which provided the information on the bulletin board for April.
  • Superintendent Ned Speicher reported on the school corporation finances for the first quarter of 2007.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the guaranteed savings contract for 2007.
  • Special education teacher Lue Ann Shuck reported on the autism assist team that has been formed by FLCS educators to help parents, teachers, students, and community members deal with children with autism.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the school schedule for the rest of the 2007-08 school year.
  • The Board approved an employee wellness program from Unified Group Services.

    • Lapel High School students on a post prom trip to Kings Island, Ohio on Sunday, April 27th.
    • Lapel High School physics, calculus, and chemistry students to Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, Ky on Friday, May 16, 2008 for the annual Math Day.
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School choir members to Kings Island, Ohio on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
    • The Lapel High School girls basketball team to Knoxville, TN from June 10-13, 2008.
  • The Board approved a 2-day waiver for the Frankton and Lapel Senior Classes of 2008 to prepare for graduation.
  • The Board approved the early retirement option, completion of service, and severance pay for certified employees who have submitted requests for retirement.
  • The Board approved the following retirements:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Sheryl Hawsey - Title I/Reading Recovery teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year, 17 years of service to FLCS.
    • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
      • Phil Davis - History teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year, 38 years of service to FLCS
      • Cathy Huntsinger - Health/physical education teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year, 32 years of service to FLCS
      • Dennis Huntsinger - Industrial technology teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year, 34 years of service to FLCS
      • Tom Urban - Health/physical education/psychology teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year, 37 years of service to FLCS
