Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School student Kelsey Antrim led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board acknowledged Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School which provided the information on the bulletin board for March.
  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 8, 2007 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board approved to renew the school corporation's health insurance plan and rates with Unified Group Services for April 1, 2007 – September 30, 2008. The Board also approved for the superintendent to choose the PPO that offered the best plan and rates as recommended by Unified Group Services.
  • Architect Greg Drennen of Lorenz Williams Clinton submitted construction documents to the Board for the central office project. He also requested permission and authorization to place the project out for bids. The Board approved the construction documents and approved authorization to bid for the project. The Board approved payment of the current construction invoices.
  • The Board approved to hire Nate Andrews as a teacher/varsity football coach at Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School for the 2007-08 school year.
  • Superintendent Ned Speicher reported on the prevailing wage scale to be approved for the central office project.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on damage to a water line and gas line at the new Lapel High School construction site and the repair process for the damaged lines.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the donations to the Madison County Foundation for an Age 4 Pre-School Program for the 2007-08 school year.
  • Mr. Speicher announced that the Academic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held at the Anderson Country Club at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21st. Frankton High School will have 14 students and Lapel High School will have 17 students to be honored.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on an e-mail from a semi-state basketball official complimenting the Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School students and staff at the recent semi-state tournament.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the school funding draft for 2008 & 2009.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the enrollment projection for the 2007-08 school year.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the 2006 Adequate Yearly Progress results for the school corporation.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests::
    • Catelyn Poorman, kindergarten, Lapel Elementary School, for the 2007-08 school year
  • The Board approved the following Conflict of Interest Statements: Lorri Barnett and Alan Bays.
  • The Board approved the Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School summer band schedule as presented by Frankton Band Director Joe Dodridge.
