Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel Elementary School students Meg Fields and Adrienne Jones led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Elementary School which provided the information on the bulletin board for March.
  • The Board approved the minutes for the February 16, 2006 school board meeting as presented.
  • Superintendent Ned Speicher announced that the Academic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held at the Anderson Country Club at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18th.
    • Frankton High School will have 15 students honored.
    • Lapel High School will have 8 students honored.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the enrollment projection for the 2006-07 school year.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the construction projects. The Board approved payment of the current construction invoices.
  • The Board approved a new 2-year Master Contract with the Frankton-Lapel Education Association. The Board also approved a raise for all certified and for non-certified employees.
  • The Board approved for Transportation Director Bobby Fields to receive bids for 3 new school buses for 2006 and to auction any surplus buses.
  • The Board approved the following cash tuition requests:
    • Kelsi Bostic, grade 9, Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School, for the 2006-07 school year.
    • William Griner, grade 9, Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School, for the 2006-07 school year.
    • Natalie Griner, grade 6, Lapel Elementary School, for the 2006-07 school year.
    • Ross Hagan, kindergarten, Lapel Elementary School, for the 2006-07 school year.
    • Madeline Ling Kuhn, grade 4, Lapel Elementary School, for the 2006-07 school year.
    • Brett Wable, to attend the Alternative School, for the remainder of the 2005-06 school year .
  • The Board approved the following gifts:
    • Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School
      • $600 for elementary basketball rims as follows: $100 from an anonymous donor, $500 from the Lapel Lions Club
      • $1,000 for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as follows: $500 from an anonymous donor, $200 from Mr. & Mrs. Brian Conrad, $300 from Mr. & Mrs. Brian Gill
      • $225 for the pep club for an elementary cheer clinic as follows: $50 from Shellie Abraham, $75 from Mardi Gras Pizzeria, $100 from Red Barn Markets
      • $250 from Compton Strategies for the nursing program/clinic
      • $1,000 from Key Bank for academic purposes
      • $500 from the Lumina Foundation for the girls basketball program
      • $500 from the Lumina Foundation for the music department
  • The Board approved to renew the school corporation's health insurance policy with Pacific Life through Unified Group Services for April 1, 2006 – March 31, 2007.
  • The Board approved a request by Lapel Post Prom to use 3 school buses to take students to Kings Island, Ohio on April 29, 2006.
  • The Board approved a 2-day waiver for the Frankton and Lapel Senior Classes of 2006 to prepare for graduation.
  • The Board approved payment of the third installment of the Special Education Cooperative billing for 2005-06.
  • The Board approved a Student Wellness Policy.
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
