Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Lapel Elementary School students Nathan Clark and Emily Shell led the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • The Board approved the minutes from the October 13, 2005 school board meeting as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged Lapel Elementary School, which provided the information on the bulletin board for November.
  • Superintendent Ned Speicher reports on the progress of the construction projects.
  • Frankton Elementary School teacher Terry Ward and students Hailey Abbott, Sydney Alexander, Tucker Gates, Lauren LeVeque, Victoria Ochoa, Breanna Sizelove, and Morgan Thomas reported on the Alpha Beta Leadership Club.
  • Technology Director Lorri Barnett reported on the recent technology conference in Denver, Colorado that was attended by FLCS administration and teachers.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the parent-teacher conferences that were held October 18 & 19, 2005.
  • Assistant Superintendent Bobby Fields and alternative school teacher Martha McFadden reported on the new alternative school program.
  • Mr. Speicher reported on the financial status of the school corporation as of October 31, 2005.
  • The Board approved the following gift:
    • Frankton Elementary School - $66.54 from Meijer for the general fund
  • The Board approved a resolution to place remaining 2005 appropriations from the various FLCS funds in the Rainy Day Fund as determined by the superintendent to help protect the school corporation in shortfalls of state funding and/or shortfalls in property tax collections.
  • The Board approved participation in the Indiana Bond Bank to borrow funds from tax anticipation warrants for 2006.
  • The Board approved the following resignation:
    • Frankton & Lapel Jr.-Sr. High Schools
      • Cary Aubrey – Agriculture teacher, as of November 11, 2005, 8 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved the claim documents as submitted.
  • Lloyd Young, Lafayette Township, spoke to the Board concerning the transportation of students to the alternative school.
  • Ron Stephenson, Lapel, spoke to the Board about being impressed with the alternative school.
  • Board member Sandy Rodewald spoke to the Board concerning the publication of the notice of board meetings in the local newspapers.
  • The following documents were signed by all board members:
    • Minutes of the October 13, 2005 school board meeting
    • Letter of appreciation to Meijer
    • Transfer of funds resolutions.
  • Announcements were made of the following dates:
    • November 23-25, 2005: Thanksgiving Break
    • December 8, 2005: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
