Frankton-Lapel Community Schools

  • Karen Monroe's grade 1 students from Frankton Elementary School performed the patriotic song, "God Bless the U.S.A."
  • The Board approved the minutes for the April 14, 2005 and April 21, 2005 school board meetings as presented.
  • The Board acknowledged the gifted and talented department which provided the information on the bulletin board for May.
  • Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School show choir director Jeannine Terhune and choir member Greg Lash reported on their recent show choir tour.
  • Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School band director Greg Scott and band member Greg Lash reported on the band trip to Savannah, Georgia to march in the Saint Patrick's Day Parade.
  • The Board approved the new position of Administrative Secretary for Technology Integration and the job description for the position.
  • The Board approved the final specifications, timeline, and bid process for the construction of the new gym floor at Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School.
  • The Board approved the ice storage energy saving system for the new Lapel High School.
  • The Board approved the following out-of-state field trips:
    Members of the Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School Spanish Club to Spain during Spring Break on March 31-April 10, 2006. 
    The Lapel football team to Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky for a football camp from July 18-21, 2005.
  • The Board approved the low bid by Cardinal Bus Sales to purchase four new 66-passenger school buses for 2005.
  • The Board approved a staff acceptable use agreement policy for internet use for employees.
  • The Board approved the book stores hours, textbook rental fees, and textbook adoption for 2005-06.
  • The Board approved a cash tuition request for Lauren & Austin Humphrey to attend the 10th and 7th grades at Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School for 2005-06.
  • The Board approved the following retirements:
    • Frankton Elementary School
      • Marylyn Covell, grade 2 teacher, 21 years of service to FLCS
      • Pauline Flowers, grade 1 teacher, 14 years of service to FLCS
  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School
    • Ruth Fox, Spanish teacher, 30 years of service to FLCS
    • Thomas Gordy, biology/science teacher, 20 years of service to FLCS
    • Nina Lee, media, 30 years of service to FLCS
  • Lapel Jr.-Sr. High School
    • Jan Passwater, English teacher, 16 years of service to FLCS
  • The Board approved status quo salary contracts for the administrative team for the 2005-06 school year.
  • The Board approved the monthly claim documents as submitted.
  • Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School Principal Mike Gustin, Assistant Superintendent Bobby Fields, and Board Member John Henderson spoke about the funeral held at Frankton Jr.-Sr. High School for two students killed in a car accident.  They thanked all the staff for all their help through this difficult time.

    • June 9, 2005: Regular Board Meeting at Administration Office, 7:30 p.m.
